SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE / SPECIAL FINANCIAL ZONE

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Eligible participants are required to maintain a fixed deposit (FD) in any Malaysian financial institution licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 758] or the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 759], as follows:
  • USD 65,000 for applicants aged 21 to 49
  • USD 32,000 for applicants aged 50 and above
2. A withdrawal of up to 50% of the fixed deposit is permitted after MM2H approval for approved purposes , including property purchase, education, medical expenses, and tourism activities in Malaysia.

PARTICIPATING FEE (ONE-OFF)

1. A one-time participation fee of RM1,000 is applicable for each principal applicant.

2. No participation fee is required for dependants.

PURCHASE OF RESIDENCE

1. It is Compulsory to purchase and own a residential property in Forest City, Johor after MM2H approval.

* Minimum floor price is subject to Johor state property acquisition policy.

2. The property must be held for a minimum of 10 years. However, upgrading to a higher-value property is permitted.
3. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in revocation of the MM2H pass.

MINIMUM LENGTH OF STAY

1. Participants are required to stay in Malaysia for a minimum of 90 cumulative days per year.

2. For participants aged 25 to 49, this requirement may be fulfilled by the principal applicant and/or dependants.

DEPENDENTS

Participants are allowed to include the following dependants:

1. Spouse (husband or wife)

2. Biological, step, or adopted children below 21 years old

3. Unmarried and unemployed children aged 21 to 34 while residing in Malaysia

4. Medically certified disabled children (no age limit)

5. Parents and/or parents-in-law

MM2H PASS

1. The MM2H pass is issued for a period of 10 years with a Multiple Entry Visa (MEV).

2. It applies to both the principal and registered dependants.

3. The pass is renewable.

4. Validity is subject to the validity of the participant’s passport.

5. If the passport expires earlier than the MM2H pass, renewal of the pass is required.

EDUCATION

Dependants are allowed to pursue education up to tertiary level in government-recognised institutions in Malaysia. They may continue under the MM2H pass or be issued a Student Pass if required.

MEDICAL

Participants are allowed to undergo long-term medical treatment in Malaysia throughout the validity of their MM2H pass.

BUSINESS/INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES

Not permitted under this category.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Not permitted under this category.

MEDICAL CHECK-UP

A Compulsory medical check-up must be conducted at clinics or hospitals appointed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for both the principal applicant and dependants after approval.

CATEGORY SPECIALITY

Participants are eligible for tax exemption on foreign-sourced funds, including income such as fixed deposits.

CHANGE OF PRINCIPAL

In the event of the principal’s death, the MM2H pass may be transferred to the next-of-kin among registered dependants.

TERMS OF RENEWAL OF MM2H PASS

  • The MM2H pass may be renewed every five years after completion of the programme tenure.
  • Applicants are required to submit the following documents:
  1. Valid passport copy
  2. Latest medical report
  3. Health insurance proof
  • Renewal fee: RM300 for both principal and dependants.
